It’s all about the CHILDREN

Triangle symbolizes the mountain where the Lahu Hill tribe children come from. Green represents life and nature.
Star is symbolic of Jesus. When Jesus was born, the wise men followed the star. Jesus is with the Lahu children on the mountain.
Small stars symbolize the children and their growth when they come to HOU.

The House of Union (HOU) is a shelter for orphans and poor Lahu children whose parents do not have the financial capability to support their daily needs and school fees.
Today, we care for more than 30 Lahu children by providing them with all of their daily necessities, just as any other family would.
The House Of Union ministry is located in the northern Thailand province of Chiang Rai. They provide and care for the children of the Lahu hilltribe whose parents are unable to appropriately care for them. The majority of the children living in the mountains reside at the HOU, while some still remain in their villages with other family members.
The HOU is the embodiment of the vision of the Lahu community leaders, as they saw the problems faced by families living in poor villages. Parents are unable to care for their children and provide them with an education as majority of them are farmers with limited resources. Thus, the cycle of poverty can never be broken as their children will grow up to become farmers as well.
With a goal to improve the quality of life of our children, we aim to provide long-term assistance to Lahu children and orphans living in poverty. We provide an education that equips the children with the skills and experiences which allow them to assimilate into modern Thai culture and society while retaining their own cultural heritage. Most importantly the HOU shares the Gospel to their children and lead them to follow Christ.
Today, we have expanded into receiving children from the other tribes beside Lahu.

Founder

House Of Union started in 2005 by Somchart Porlung and Phayao Nangam. For the need of the Lahu hilltribe people from the village and the community leaders. We have the purpose to help orphans and poor Lahu hilltribe children to have an education, maintain Lahu hilltribe culture and share the Gospel.

The story of Pi Somchart
When I was 10, my parents placed me in an orphanage because they couldn't afford my education. While there, I met a kind man who sponsored my university studies. I graduated and taught English for 7 years before starting House Of Union (HOU), an orphanage and shelter.
I'm grateful for what happened to me and it inspired me to start HOU, and I believe HOU can help many orphaned and poor kids like me, to have a better life.
